Reservation procedure

Our goal is to guarantee the carriage ride that you’ve always wanted.  When you book a reservation with Manhattan Carriage, you are assigned your very own  private driver for the time slot specified along with the name of your driver, his cell #, and the description of his carriage.  Your driver’s obligation is to be available to you at the time specified and to give you the carriage ride for the specified duration along with any other extras that you’ve requested at the time of your reservation, for the price specified when you made your reservation.  You agree to be on time for your reservation, to ride with the driver that you’ve been assigned, and to pay the driver the amount specified when you made your reservation.

You are not reserving a “walk-up” or “standard” carriage and we cannot, in any capacity, guarantee “walk-up” or “standard” rides.  We do not work with all of the drivers in the park, but the drivers that we do work with specialize in, and prioritize,  reservations.  Reservations are recommended to insure that you get the exact carriage ride that you desire, for a set price, and an exact duration.  Our minimum of a 40 minute reservation is not the short 20 minute loop done twice that can be done in less than 40 minutes.  You are reserving a  separate 40 minute loop that traverses many of the more desirable locations on the south side of Central Park and takes a minimum of 40 minutes for the carriage to travel.  So, you will not face the prospect of getting  “short changed” if you make a reservation with Manhattan Carriage.

Making a carriage reservation is similar to making a hotel reservation.  We do not require a deposit, but we do need to take a valid credit card to hold for the reservation.  Your card is not charged.  Instead, a hold is place on your card within 24 hours before your reservation time and then set up to be automatically released back to you after your reservation. Depending on your bank or financial institution, the hold may show up as “pending” but will never actually clear before it is released back to you.  Reservations are to be paid for in cash directly to your driver by the end of your reservation.

We only take credit card payments for reservations in very, extremely rare circumstances, and the charge will include an additional 5% added to the price of the reservation to account for processing. The industry standard is to have carriage rides paid for in cash directly to the driver. If you insist on only being able to pay via credit card, then your options in terms of available time slots will be limited since there are only a short list of drivers that are willing to be paid via credit cards.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, but we cannot, under an circumstance, accept credit card payments for reservations that involve more than one carriage.

Prepaid Cancellations will incur a 3.75% service fee. It is not only a fee we charge . It is a fee that we are charged by our Merchant Service.

WE now accept secure online payments through Paypal. See the "Add to Cart" buttons throughout website.
